Creating and Evolving Concepts

Over the last few weeks in particular, my main focuses have been on projects for public events by request of a certain organization. This means that I can't really talk much about them just yet. I can, however, talk briefly about smaller, infant concepts I'm currently working on.
First off, is my work on abstract landscape. It's been an interest of mine for some time now, and it's been something I frequently go back to. This latest one experiments with something new for me; cell shading on flat plains.

This is part of a series of "speed paintings", working with tones instead of light or line. It's an interesting exersise, and I continue to do these kind of things from time to time.
Another common thing I've been doing lately has been taking ideas from friends and colleagues, and developing them into rough visual concepts. This latest one was based off of a dream had by a friend of mine.

In general, I try to work through the "concept stage" of a new idea a week, in order to maintain a stream of ideas and inspiration to help keep me motivated and invested in creating new content.
